Dr. Whitney Stubbs

Licensed Psychologist

Whitney Stubbs is a licensed psychologist who provides client-centered psychotherapy to individuals across the adult lifespan. She completed her M.S. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi and went on to pursue her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Memphis. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship in San Antonio, Texas at the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System. Since completing her training, Dr. Stubbs has spent her career serving veterans in outpatient mental health within the VA Healthcare system, most recently providing individual and group therapy exclusively through telehealth. Dr. Stubbs had the opportunity to receive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy for depression within the VA. She has also received training and/or supervision in exposure-based therapy for trauma and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders.

Dr. Stubbs understands that meaningful inner work and change in therapy is not possible without first creating an authentic, trust-based therapeutic relationship. From this foundation, she seeks to bring an attachment and trauma-informed approach to her work with clients.

She has experience in working with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders, acute and chronic depression, adjustment, loss, and trauma as well as emotional/binge eating. She is passionate about understanding the connection between early life experiences and current interpersonal and emotional functioning. Dr. Stubbs believes that an acceptance-based approach empowers her clients to use their individual strengths to create meaningful change in their lives and their relationships.
